Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 9:58 AM PST Feb. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 am PST
Thursday...

* snow accumulations... 1 to 3 inches in portions of the Illinois
Valley and above 1500 feet in portions of the Rogue Valley. 2 to
4 inches over the passes on Interstate 5 between Grants Pass and
Roseburg. Local amounts up to 6 inches in rural areas above
3000 feet.

* Snow levels... falling to 1500 feet by this evening, and then to
750 feet overnight. Heavier showers this afternoon can briefly drop
snow levels to valley floors.

* Timing... snow showers will continue today. Heavier snow showers
are possible this afternoon and evening with lower snow levels.
Road temperatures this afternoon should limit impacts until this
evening. Snow showers will taper to flurries tonight.

* Locations include... Interstate 5 at Sexton Summit, Smith Hill
pass, Stage Road Pass, and Canyon Creek Pass, Highway 227
between Tiller and trail, and Highway 62 above Lost Creek
Reservoir. Glendale, Cave Junction, Obrien, Ruch, and Ashland
will also be affected.

* Impacts... area roads above 2000 foot elevations, including
Interstate 5, will become snow and slush covered during
moderate to heavy snow showers. Travel will become difficult
due to slippery roadways and limited visibility, at times.
Colder conditions this evening will lead to greater potential
of accumulations on roadways down to about 1500 feet, as well
as the potential for black ice formation.

* View the hazard area in detail at
http://weather.Gov/Medford/hazard

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.

* Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and
limited visibilities.

* See weather.Gov/Medford/cams for latest Road conditions.
