The National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Ventura County in southwestern California...

* until 430 am PST

* at 127 am PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that moderate to locally heavy rain had rapidly spread across
Ventura County. This rain will continue through 430 am PST, with
rainfall rates of one quarter to just under a half inch per hour.
Minor mud and debris flows may occur in the vicinity of the
solimar and Springs Burna areas. Otherwise, Urban and Small Stream
flooding will occur in the advisory area through early this
morning. Driving conditions could become dangerous across canyons
with large boulders and debris falling from canyon walls this
morning.

Oxnard... Thousand Oaks... Simi Valley... Ventura... Camarillo...
Fillmore... Ojai... Santa Paula... Carpinteria... Rose Valley...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Small Craft Advisory, Gale Watch
Issued: 9:06 PM PST Jan. 18, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM PST
Thursday...
... Gale watch remains in effect from Friday morning through
Saturday morning...

* winds... southeast to south winds will increase to 15 to 25 kt
with gusts to 30 kt this evening and early Thursday morning.
Winds will diminish some Thursday night then west winds will
develop and increase to 15 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt are
possible Friday and Friday night.

* Seas... combined seas will build to 4 to 6 feet late tonight and
early Thursday morning. Seas will continue to build to 14 to 17
feet with periods around 15 seconds by Saturday morning.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that hazardous sea conditions will
exist for small craft. Inexperienced mariners... especially those
operating smaller vessels should avoid navigating in these
conditions.

A gale watch is issued when hazardous gale force winds of 34 to
47 knots are probable in the near future... but the specific
timing and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to
provide additional lead time for mariners who may wish to
consider altering their plans.
