The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
Douglas County in western Nevada...

* until 900 PM PDT

* at 605 PM PDT... Doppler radar indicated a thunderstorm producing
heavy rainfall over the Pine nut range east of Minden and Johnson
Lane. Radar estimates indicate over one inch of rain has already
fallen. This may produce rapid water runoff, localized flash
flooding, and debris flows moving westward towards the Minden and
Johnson Lane areas. Run off may reach valley locations within the
hour.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Johnson Lane... Indian HIlls... Minden...
Route 209..Fish Springs Road..and East Valley Road.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Fire Weather Warning

... Red flag warning in effect from 2 PM to 9 PM PDT Friday for
thunderstorms and strong outflow winds for portions of western
Nevada and eastern California...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a red flag
warning for thunderstorms and strong outflow winds, which is in
effect from 2 PM to 9 PM PDT Friday. The Fire Weather Watch is no
longer in effect.

* Affected area... fire zone 273 Mono and eastern alpine counties,
fire zone 450 western Nevada Sierra front and fire zone 459
Mineral and southern Lyon counties.

* Thunderstorms... isolated dry thunderstorms are expected to
develop Friday afternoon becoming scattered into Friday
evening.

* Outflow winds... gusts 40-50 mph are likely with locally higher
gusts over 60 mph possible in the desert areas.

* Impacts... lightning can create new fire starts and may combine
with strong outflow winds to cause a fire to rapidly grow in
size and intensity.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry
vegetation... such as yard work... target shooting... or
