Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 7:04 PM PST Dec. 6, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4 PM Wednesday to 10 am
PST Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Winter Weather
Advisory for freezing rain and snow, which is in effect from 4 PM
Wednesday to 10 am PST Thursday.

* Timing: snow will spread across the area Wednesday
evening... then become mixed with freezing rain... rain and sleet
in the valleys early Thursday morning

* snow accumulations: 1 to 3 inches.

* Freezing rain accumulations: up to 0.10"

* snow levels: all valley floors Wednesday evening... then rising to
over 7000 feet late Thursday morning with mixed winter
precipitation in the valleys.

* Impacts: a light coating of black ice could create very
difficult travel conditions. Ice will also accumulate on
sidewalks... tree limbs and powerlines. Those with travel plans
are urged to maintain an increased awareness while driving
Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during
periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to
reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since
it takes longer to stop on slick roadways.
