Lake Effect Snow Warning
Issued: 3:54 PM EST Dec. 8, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST
Friday...

Hazardous weather...

* lake effect snow will continue through Friday morning... then begin
diminishing on Friday afternoon. The heaviest snow is expected
tonight... especially over eastern portions of Marquette County.

* Northwest winds gusting up to 30 mph near Lake Superior will lead
to patchy blowing and drifting snow along the shoreline tonight.

* Expect additional snowfall tonight of 2 to 4 inches near Lake
Superior... greatest over the higher terrain from Herman to
Negaunee to Little Lake. South of a line from Watton to Champion
and Gwinn... expect 1 to 2 inches of snow. In Marquette County... a
band of very heavy snow developing over far eastern Marquette
County later tonight into Friday morning may produce localized
snowfall up to 8 inches... mainly south and east of Harvey. Another
1 to 4 inches of snow is expected on Friday... especially to the
   east of Marquette.

Impacts...

* roads will be snow covered and slippery.

* Moderate to heavy snow and patchy blowing snow will reduce
visibilities. The lowest visibilities... less than one-half mile at
   times... will occur tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a lake effect snow warning means significant amounts of lake-
effect snow are forecast that will make travel very hazardous
   or impossible.

* Prepare... plan... and stay informed. Visit www.Weather.Gov/MQT
