Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 3:49 PM EDT May. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday
afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north and all of central Georgia... mainly along and
south of a Cedartown to Canton to Homer line.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* abundant moisture combined with several disturbances ahead of an
approaching low pressure system will continue to allow for
periods of heavy rain within widespread showers and
thunderstorms. As one wave exits eastward by this evening,
another wave of development is expected late tonight into
Wednesday. While 1 to 3 inches of rainfall have occurred in the
watch area, an additional 1 to 2 inches is possible.

* Flooding in low lying and flood prone areas will be likely,
especially in urban areas. In addition, creeks, streams and
rivers may overflow their banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
