... Flash Flood Watch now in effect through Saturday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southeast Maryland and Virginia, including the
following areas, in southeast Maryland, Dorchester, inland
Worcester, Maryland beaches, Somerset, and Wicomico. In
Virginia, Accomack, Caroline, eastern Essex, eastern King
William, eastern King And Queen, Gloucester, Lancaster,
Mathews, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond, western Essex,
western King William, western King And Queen, and
Westmoreland.

* Through Saturday evening.

* Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected through Saturday evening
across portions of central and eastern Virginia and the lower
Eastern Shore. Total rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are
expected on average, with locally higher amounts possible.

* Heavy rainfall may result in rapid rises in streams and
creeks. This could quickly result in flooding, especially in
low lying and poor drainage areas. Flooding my be exacerbated
during periods of high tide for areas along the Chesapeake Bay
and tidal rivers.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
