Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 8:54 PM EDT Apr. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Coastal flood advisory in effect from 6 PM Tuesday to midnight
EDT Tuesday night...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a coastal
flood advisory, which is in effect from 6:00 PM Tuesday until
midnight on Tuesday night.

* Location... coastal areas of New Jersey and Delaware and areas
along Delaware Bay.

* Coastal flooding... minor flooding is anticipated around the
time of Tuesday evening's high tide. Localized moderate flooding
is possible.

* Timing... high tide on the New Jersey and Delaware oceanfront
occurs between 7:15 PM and 8:15 PM on Tuesday evening. High tide
on the back bays, along Delaware Bay and along Raritan Bay
occurs later than the high tide on the oceanfront.

* Surge... around 1.0 to 1.5 feet above the astronomical tide.

* Waves... wave heights on the ocean waters off New Jersey and
Delaware are forecast to be 7 to 10 feet. Wave heights on
Delaware Bay are expected to be 2 to 5 feet.

* Impacts... localized roadway flooding is expected. Some roads
will likely be closed due to high water.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some Road
closures. Usually... the most vulnerable roadways will flood.

Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged... leading to
costly repairs.
