Special Weather Statement
Issued: Environment Canada
Special Weather Statement issued by Environment. 12:08 PM EDT Wednesday 28 June 2017.
25 to 50 mm rain possible overnight tonight, Thursday and Thursday night.

A low pressure system developing over Minnesota will track slowly eastwards. Shower with embedded thunderstorms will start late this evening east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, and then spread into eastern Ontario by Thursday morning. Total rainfall amount in general will be in a range of 20 to 40 mm. Some localities that receive multiple thunderstorms may see higher rainfall amounts.

Current guidance suggests heavy showers tonight will fall across areas extending from Sault Ste. Marie eastwards to Espanola - Killarney with local amounts up to 50 mm. Areas from Grey - Bruce to Barrie - Orillia - Midland may see total rainfall amounts up to 40 mm. There is still some uncertainty at this time which depends on the track of the low and where thunderstorms develop. Environment Canada will monitor this weather system closely.
