The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* flood advisory for...
eastern Pittsylvania County in south central Virginia...
Halifax County in south central Virginia...

* until 1015 am EDT

* at 710 am EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to three inches of rain
have already fallen in spots.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
South Boston...
Halifax...
Clover...
Turbeville...
and Ingram.

Additional rainfall of an inch or two is expected over the area.
This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service

... Flood Watch in effect through late tonight...

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina and Virginia,
including the following areas, in North Carolina, Caswell,
Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Wilkes, and Yadkin. In Virginia,
Carroll, Halifax, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania.

* Through late tonight.

* Heavier showers and thunderstorms this morning followed by
moderate to heavy rain this afternoon may lead to flooding.

* Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches could occur through tonight.
This could lead to flooding of creeks and streams today and
along larger rivers by tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
