Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 7:13 AM CDT Jul. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in League City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southwestern Trinity County in southeastern Texas...
north central San Jacinto County in southeastern Texas...
central Houston County in southeastern Texas...
west central Polk County in southeastern Texas...

* until 1015 am CDT.

* At 711 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. 4 to 6 inches of rain have
fallen since 5 am. Flash flooding is occurring or is expected to
begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Trinity, Onalaska, Groveton, Sebastopol and Pennington.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the
warned area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
