... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST this
afternoon...

* location... along and east of New Mexico's Central Mountain
chain.

* Winds... west 30 to 40 mph with gusts around 60 mph.

* Timing... winds will continue to strengthen through the late
morning, then peak in strength during the early to mid
afternoon, before weakening with sunset.

* Visibility... may be locally reduced below 3 miles in dust
prone locations.

* Local impacts... very strong cross winds will make driving
hazardous on north to south oriented roads, like I-25 around
Las Vegas and northward over Raton Pass. Unsecured objects may
become airborne, and lightweight structures may topple.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember, a High Wind Warning means damaging winds are imminent
or highly likely. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or
gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

Friday afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire
Weather Watch... which is in effect from Friday morning through
Friday afternoon.

* Area and timing... east Central Plains this afternoon into the
early evening. East Central Plains late Friday morning through
Friday afternoon.

* 20 foot winds... west 25 to 45 mph with gusts of 50 to 60 mph
today. Northwest 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph Friday.

* Relative humidity... minimum values of 7 to 11 percent today then
9 to 13 percent on Friday.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly
and will be hard to control. Long range spotting and extreme
fire behavior will be possible. Outdoor burning should not be
done.
