... Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north Idaho and Washington, including the
following counties, in north Idaho, Benewah, Bonner, Kootenai,
Latah, and Shoshone. In Washington, Adams, Grant, Lincoln,
Pend Oreille, Spokane, and Stevens.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* widespread precipitation is expected on Tuesday with widespread
rain amounts of half an inch possible in the Palouse northward
toward Spokane and Coeur D'Alene areas. Localized precipitation
amounts up to one inch will be possible over the central and
southern Idaho Panhandle on Tuesday.

* Look for rises on creeks and small streams. Field flooding
will likely occur as well in areas that typically flood in the
Spring due to poor drainage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

The National Weather Service in Spokane, WA has issued a
* Flood Watch for
the Palouse river near Potlatch
* from late Tuesday night to Wednesday evening.
* At 12:16 PM Monday the stage was 10.6 feet.
* Minor flooding is possible.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Forecast... the flood stage of 15 feet may be reached by
early Wednesday morning. At this time... it appears that the
river may be at or above flood stage for several hours on
Wednesday.

* at 15.0 feet... extensive flooding of the low lying areas between
Potlatch, ID and Palouse, WA will occur. Flooding will occur at the
lions club Community Park and Hayton Greene Park in Palouse. South
River Road will likely be flooded where it crosses the Palouse
river at Wellesley Rd. The Potlatch softball and baseball fields
will start to flood.
