Issued: 9:16 PM PST Feb. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Small Craft Advisory now in effect until 3 am PST Tuesday...
... Gale watch in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday
morning...

The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a gale watch,
which is in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday
morning.

* Winds... S increasing to 15 to 25 kt with occasional gusts around
35 kt late tonight. Winds will decrease briefly before another
round of near gales come early Tuesday morning.

* Waves... building to 12 to 14 ft seas for Monday... including a
large west swell and steep building waves in response to the
winds.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels... should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A gale watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to
47 knots has significantly increased... but the specific timing
and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to provide
additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider
altering their plans.
