High Surf Advisory
Issued: 9:39 PM PST Feb. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory remains in effect from 7 am Wednesday to
2 am PST Friday...

* waves and surf... surf will build along the beaches of Southern
California as a swell from the west... or 280 degrees... moves
into the local waters. This swell will produce surf of 7 to 10
feet... especially along west facing beaches.

* Timing... Wednesday through Thursday night with the highest
surf expected late Wednesday afternoon through evening.

* Tides... high tide will be at around 7:45 PM on Wednesday.

* Impacts... strong rip currents and dangerous swimming
conditions. Minor overwash possible onto susceptible roads
such as along the strand at Oceanside.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.





Small Craft Advisory
Issued: 9:41 PM PST Feb. 21, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Small Craft Advisory remains in effect from 7 am Wednesday to
2 am PST Friday...

* winds... northwest winds will increase on Wednesday with gusts of
around 30 knots expected Wednesday afternoon and night before
gradually subsiding on Thursday.

* Waves/seas... seas will build to 7 to 12 feet on Wednesday as a
swell from 280 degrees builds into the coastal waters. The
highest seas will be over the offshore waters off the southern
San Diego coast. Seas will remain above 7 feet through Friday
morning before subsiding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners... especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
