High Surf Advisory
Issued: 1:26 PM PST Feb. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory now in effect until 4 PM PST Tuesday...

* surf... breaking waves of 9 to 13 feet will subside to 6 to 9
feet with local sets to 10 feet by this evening. The surf will
subside briefly tonight and Monday before approaching criteria
of 4-7 feet Monday night and Tuesday.

* Impacts... large waves and strong rip currents will increase
the risk of ocean drowning for swimmers and surfers. Large
breaking waves can cause injury... wash people off beaches and
rocks... and capsize small boats nearshore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.
