Watches & Warnings

Wind Advisory
Issued: 6:31 AM MDT Apr. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Wind Advisory now in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 9 PM
MDT this evening...

* timing... winds will increase late this morning and attain
maximum speeds between 3 PM and 7 PM.

* Winds... west winds will have sustained speeds near 30 mph with
gusts around 40 to 50 mph most areas.

* Impacts... blowing dust will reduce the visibility to less than
a mile over isolated locations causing dangerous driving
conditions. The combination of strong winds... warm
temperatures and low humidity will cause critical fire weather
conditions.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
red flag warnings.
