the severe thunderstorm which prompted the warning has weakened
slightly. However, strong gusty winds up to 50 mph and some hail can
still be expected from this storm. Winds will spread out far away
from this storm.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch
Issued: 4:25 PM MDT Jul. 24, 2016 – National Weather Service

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
northeast Colorado
extreme northwest Kansas

* effective this Sunday afternoon and evening from 425 PM until
800 PM MDT.

* Primary threats include...
isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible
isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

Summary... clusters of strong/severe storms will continue to develop
toward the east-southeast across northeast Colorado the next few
hours. The storm environment will support some supercell structures
for the first couple of hours... then storms will likely grow into
larger clusters. Large hail and damaging outflow winds will be the
main threats into this evening.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch area is approximately along and 55
statute miles east and west of a line from 60 miles north
northwest of Akron Colorado to 50 miles south southwest of
Burlington Colorado. For a complete depiction of the watch see

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember... a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally
do produce tornadoes.


Aviation... a few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft
to 2 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60
knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 550. Mean storm
