Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 8:01 PM CDT Jun. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Austin San Antonio has issued a

* flood advisory for...
east central Hays County in south central Texas...
south central Travis County in south central Texas...

* until 900 PM CDT

* at 800 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to one inch of rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Austin, Kyle, Buda, Tanglewood Forest, West Lake Hills,
Rollingwood, Uhland, Mustang Ridge, Niederwald, Bear Creek, Onion
Creek, Driftwood, Shady Hollow, Sunset Valley, Mountain City, San
Leanna, Hays, Creedmoor, Manchaca and Hays City.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.
