The National Weather Service in League City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
north central Brazoria County in southeastern Texas...

* until 500 PM CDT.

* At 157 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to
three inches of rain have already fallen in the past hour. Flash
flooding is expected to begin shortly. Additional rainfall of 1-2
inches is possible as thunderstorms move east out of the warned
area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pearland, Alvin, Manvel, greater hobby area, Brookside Village,
Iowa Colony, Bonney, Minnetex and Rosharon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

The National Weather Service in League City has issued a

* flood advisory for...
west central Galveston County in southeastern Texas...
northeastern Brazoria County in southeastern Texas...
southeastern Harris County in southeastern Texas...

* until 445 PM CDT.

* At 140 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in
the advisory area. 1.2 inches of rain has fallen within the last
15 minutes. Additional rainfall of around 2 inches may fall over
the area as this line of storms pushes eastward. This additional
rain will cause minor flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pasadena, Pearland, southwestern League City, Friendswood, Deer
Park, Alvin, South Houston, Santa Fe, Galena Park, Jacinto City,
Webster, Manvel, greater Eastwood, greater hobby area, Clear Lake,
south belt / Ellington, second Ward, Channelview, greater Third
Ward and MacGregor.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
