Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 9:59 AM CDT Jun. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* flood advisory for...
southern Wise County in north central Texas...
Denton County in north central Texas...
northeastern Parker County in north central Texas...
northern Tarrant County in north central Texas...
southwestern Collin County in north central Texas...

* until 100 PM CDT.

* At 956 am CDT, Doppler radar and rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms continued to produce persistent light to moderate
rainfall of up to an inch in 2 hours across north and western
parts of metroplex. Automated rain gauges in the area have already
reported 1 to 3 inches overnight. Excessive runoff from these
thunderstorms will cause urban and small stream flooding across
areas that are low lying or usually experience poor drainage. A
few low water crossings may become impassable.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano, Grand Prairie, McKinney, Carrollton,
Frisco, Denton, Richardson, Lewisville, Allen, Flower Mound,
Euless, Bedford, Grapevine, Haltom City, Keller, Coppell, Hurst and
The Colony.

Additional rainfall in excess of an inch is expected over the
advisory area through midday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
