Coastal Flood Advisory
Issued: 10:44 PM CDT Aug. 31, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 7 am CDT
Friday...

* coastal flooding... tides possibly 2 feet or higher above
normal.

* Timing... minor coastal flooding and inundation during times of
high tide Thursday. High tide times will be mostly between 10 am
and 3 PM Thursday. High surf and dangerous rip currents will
persist through Friday morning.

* Impacts... tides up to 2 feet above normal will lead to
inundation of low lying coastal roadways and areas not typically
subject to coastal flooding during high tides outside of
protection levees. Periods with life-threatening rip currents
are expected... mainly over the barrier and coastal islands of
Mississippi and southeast Louisiana.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
