Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 7:04 AM CDT Aug. 31, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Wichita has extended the

* Flood Warning for...
south central Reno County in south central Kansas...

* until 530 PM CDT Wednesday

* at 646 am CDT... two to three inches of recent rainfall has caused
the North Fork of the Ninnescah River at Castleton to rise above
flood stage. Flood stage is 9 feet... with the stage at 7am reading
just over 11 feet.

Flood waters are moving down the North Fork of the Ninnescah River
from Arlington to Cheney. The Current River stage is 11 feet and
remains above flood stage. Expect low water crossings to be impacted
and possibly impassable due to river flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... country roads... farmland... and other low lying
spots.
