Issued: 10:25 AM CDT Apr. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill MO has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the south Grand River at Urich.
* From Saturday evening to late Tuesday night.
* At 10:15 am Friday the stage was 9.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Saturday evening and continue
to rise to near 28.7 feet by early Sunday afternoon. The river will
fall below flood stage by Tuesday morning.
* At 28.0 feet... k Highway is under water approximately 1 mile south
of Urich. Many other roads along the river are flooded as well.
* At 24.0 feet... flooding occurs across locations within 0.5 to 1.5
miles of the river. Areas affected include low lying pastures along
with cropland and secondary roads.

The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill MO has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Big Creek at Blairstown.
* From Saturday evening to Tuesday evening.
* At 10:00 am Friday the stage was 12.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Saturday evening and continue
to rise to near 26.9 feet by early Sunday afternoon. The river will
fall below flood stage by Monday evening.
* At 26.0 feet... many farm levees along Big Creek are overtopped.
Flooding of rural areas behind the levees occurs.
* At 23.0 feet... flooding occurs at the west approach to the N
Highway bridge located 0.2 miles west of Blairstown. Flooding also
occurs across b Highway near Big Creek which is several miles
northwest of Blairstown.
* At 20.0 feet... the West Bank of the creek begins to flood.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from this evening through
Sunday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Kansas and Missouri, including the
following areas, in east central Kansas, Linn KS and Miami. In
Missouri, Bates, Cass, Cooper, Henry, Howard, Johnson MO,
Pettis, and Saline.

* From this evening through Sunday evening

* already moist ground conditions are setting the stage for
potential significant flooding impacts within the watch area.
Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected for portions of
central Missouri into east-central Kansas.

* Excessive rainfall could result in flooding of low-lying or
poor drainage areas... creeks and streams... as well as urban
areas. Rises on rivers will also be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
