The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Gibson County in southwestern Indiana...
Pike County in southwestern Indiana...

* until 515 PM CDT Friday/615 PM EDT Friday/

* at 1108 am CDT/1208 PM EDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain
across the warned area. Up to two inches to locally three inches
of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly, especially west of Owensville in Gibson County.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Princeton, Mount Carmel, Fort Branch, Oakland City, Petersburg,
Haubstadt, Owensville, Lynnville, Winslow, Patoka, Cynthiana,
Francisco, Somerville, Hazleton, Spurgeon and MacKey.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect until 5 PM CDT this
afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, and western
Kentucky, including the following areas, in southern Illinois,
Hardin, Massac, and Pope. In southwest Indiana, Gibson, Pike,
Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick. In western Kentucky,
Ballard, Caldwell, Calloway, Carlisle, Christian, Crittenden,
Daviess, Fulton, Graves, Henderson, Hickman, Hopkins,
Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, McLean, Muhlenberg,
Todd, Trigg, Union KY, and Webster.

* Until 5 PM CDT this afternoon

* widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to
produce locally heavy rainfall today. Tropical downpours have
been dumping up to 2 inches per hour in isolated locations in
southern Illinois. Due to the more rapid speed of the storm, the
watch is only in effect through the afternoon hours.

* High rainfall rates could lead to rapid inundation of flood
prone roadways. Sharp rises in creeks and small streams may
occur. Low lying areas may quickly become flooded.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings or flood advisories be issued.

* at 933 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches or more of
rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Princeton, Mount Carmel, Fairfield, Fort Branch, Oakland City,
Albion, Grayville, Lancaster, Haubstadt, Owensville, West Salem,
Lynnville, Patoka, Allendale, Francisco, Somerville, Bellmont,
Hazleton, Decker and Bone Gap.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
