Issued: 12:50 AM EDT May. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in northern Indiana has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
southeastern Grant County in central Indiana...
Blackford County in east central Indiana...
Jay County in east central Indiana...

* until 645 am EDT

* at 1246 am EDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain causing
flooding along sr 1 and CR 150 S in Jay County south of Pennville.
Up to two inches of rain has already fallen over much of Jay and
Blackford counties. Low lying and poor drainage areas will be
prone to flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Portland, Hartford City, Upland, Dunkirk, Montpelier, Redkey,
Pennville, Matthews, Westchester, center, Fowlerton, Bryant,
Shamrock Lakes, Trinity, Brice, Mill Grove, como, Collett, Balbec
and New Mount Pleasant.

Additional rainfall up to one inch is expected portions of the area.
This additional rain will exacerbate ongoing lowland flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
