Special Statement
Issued: 2:37 PM CDT Jul. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Strong thunderstorms with torrential rainfall possible late
tonight through early Friday...

An approaching weather system will bring several rounds of showers
and thunderstorms to the region beginning late tonight and
continuing through early Friday morning.

Abundant moisture will be in place and any thunderstorm that
develops will be capable of producing torrential rainfall.
Steering currents in the atmosphere will be weak, so these storms
will also be slow moving at times.

Basin average rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches will be possible
across southern Indiana and central Kentucky. Some isolated
rainfall amounts of 3 to as much as 4 inches may occur especially
where storms repeatedly track over the same areas. This may result
in some localized flooding in typical flood prone and poor
drainage areas.

Stay tuned to NOAA all hazards weather radio and your local media
for the latest updates.
