* until 1115 PM EDT

* at 916 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a line of showers
containing rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour at times
moving across the area. Excess runoff will cause minor flooding of
poor drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Paintsville, Prestonsburg, Jackson, Salyersville, Mason, Oaklawn
estates, Vail, Handshoe, Falcon, Whitehouse, Burning Fork, Noctor,
Collista, West Van Lear, west Royalton station, Williamsport, Blue
River, gillem branch, Redbush and Swamp Branch.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Saturday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Kentucky, northeast Kentucky, south
central Kentucky, and southeast Kentucky, including the
following areas, in east central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott,
Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell, and Rowan. In
northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In south central
Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, and
Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd,
Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin,
Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe.

* Through Saturday morning

* showers and thunderstorms with a potential for very heavy
rainfall will move across the area through early tonight.
Precipitation will diminish and exit the region late tonight
and early Saturday morning.

* Flash flooding of creeks and streams will be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

... A shower will affect southeastern Floyd and Pike counties...

At 1021 PM EDT, an area of showers were located near Kimper, or 7
miles northeast of Pikeville, moving southeast at 30 mph.

Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with these showers.

Locations impacted include...
Pikeville, Coal Run Village, Elkhorn City, Forest Hills, East
McDowell, Huddy, Meta, Jamboree, Fishtrap Lake, Garden Village,
Toonerville, BUckhorn Hollow, Osborn, Orkney, Woodman, Biggs,
Rockhouse, Ligon, Sidney and Shelbiana.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these showers, and may
cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
