Heat Advisory
Issued: 3:13 AM EDT Jul. 28, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory in effect from 11 am this morning to 8 PM EDT
this evening...

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a heat
advisory... which is in effect from 11 am this morning to 8 PM EDT
this evening.

* Heat index values... between 106 and 109 are expected as the
combination of temperatures in the mid to upper 90s... and
dewpoints in the lower 70s to mid 70s will create this
oppressive heat.

* Timing... the highest sustained heat index values will occur in
the mid to late afternoon hours.

* Impacts... the combination of hot temperatures and high
relative humidity will result with the increasing frequency of
heat related illnesses across the advised area. If you suspect
someone having a heat stroke... call 911 immediately.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. To
reduce the risk of heat illness during outdoor work the
occupational safety and health administration recommends
scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned
environments.
