Watches & Warnings

Heat Advisory
Issued: 8:17 PM EDT Jul. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory is now in effect from 11 am to 7 PM EDT
Sunday...

* heat index values... up to 109 due to temperatures in the low to
mid 90s, and dewpoints in the mid 70s with upper 70s closer to
the coast.

* Timing... heat indices will return to heat advisory criteria, 105
degrees and higher, by late Sun morning. Heat indices will peak
during the mid to late afternoon Sunday, and finally drop below
105 early Sunday evening.

* Impacts... high heat and humidity will increase the risk for heat
exhaustion and even heat stroke if precautionary measures are
not taken.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures combined
with high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses
may occur. To reduce the risk of heat illness during outdoor
work and activities, the occupational safety and health
administration recommends scheduling frequent breaks in shaded or
air conditioned environments.

Never leave unattended children or pets in a closed vehicle,
temperatures inside can rise to fatal levels within minutes.
Make sure outside pets and livestock have access to a well
ventilated and shaded area with plenty of water available.
