... Coastal flood advisory in effect from 10 PM this evening to
8 am EDT Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has issued
a coastal flood advisory, which is in effect from 10 PM this
evening to 8 am EDT Tuesday.

* Location... minor coastal flooding will occur along the Neuse
and Pamlico rivers and their adjacent tidal creeks tonight.

* Coastal flooding... water level rises up to 2 feet above normal
are possible for locations adjacent to the Neuse and Pamlico
rivers including adjacent tidal creeks tonight.

* Timing... from late this evening through early
Tuesday.

* Impacts... water level rises of 1 to 2 feet producing minor
flooding adjacent to the neause and Pamlico rivers.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to produce minor flooding of low areas along the
inland rivers.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Tuesday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of eastern North Carolina, including the following
areas, Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Greene, Jones,
Lenoir, Onslow, Pamlico, and Pitt.

* Through Tuesday morning

* rain showers will continue into early Tuesday morning. The rain
may be heavy at times with occasional thunderstorms. The
episodes of heavy rain will lead to a potential for flash
flooding. Storm total rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is expected,
with locally higher amounts up to 5 inches possible.

* Flash flooding is especially dangerous at night as it is very
difficult to see the depth of water on roads.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
