* Flood Warning for urban areas and small streams in...
central Cabarrus County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
eastern Mecklenburg County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
northeastern Union County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...

* until 1030 PM EDT Monday

* at 428 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain has already
fallen across parts of the region. Some areas have had 2 to 4
inches of rain the last couple of days. Moderate rain will move
back into the region this evening, and this will slow the response
of rivers and creeks in their abatement. New rainfall could reach
up to 1.5 inches.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
downtown Concord, northeast Charlotte, West Concord, Mint Hill,
Indian Trail, Unionville, Harrisburg, Lake park, Hemby Bridge and
Reedy Creek Park.

* The following stream gauges will exceed minor flood stage: the
Rocky River above irish Buffalo Creek, Mallard creek below Stony
Creek near Harrisburg.

* Other minor flooding of small and large streams is likely.



Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, highways, and underpasses. Addditionally, country
roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks, streams, and other
low-lying areas are subject to flooding.

When it is safe to do so, please report flood waters or landslides
flowing over roads or threatening property to the National Weather
Service by calling toll free, 1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, by posting on

* until 1145 PM EDT Monday

* at 1141 am EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that heavy rain was falling over the area. The heavy rain will
cause urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage
areas will result in minor flooding as well. 2-4 inches of rain
have fallen over the past 24 hours. An additional 1-2 inches of
rain is likely over the next 6 hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Monroe, Weddington, Wesley Chapel, Wingate, Waxhaw, Marshville,
Mineral Springs, Marvin, sturdivants and jaars.

* Scattered, nuisance stream flooding is possible, including along:
Stewarts Creek, Richardson Creek, Salem creek, Beaverdam creek,
Buffalo Creek, Lanes Creek, West Fork Twelvemile creek, Flat Branch,
and Sixmile Creek.

* Some streets may be impacted, including:
Stafford St, Charlotte Ave, Curtis Rd and Sutherland Ave,
Macedonia church Rd and medlin Rd, Austin Grove church Rd,
Taylors St, Chestnut ln, and Antioch church Rd

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross
water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. Only a few
inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. It is
not Worth the risk. Please turn around, don't drown.

... Flood Watch now in effect through Tuesday morning...

The Flood Watch is now in effect for

* a portion of Piedmont North Carolina, including the following
areas, Alexander, Cabarrus, Catawba, Davie, Iredell,
Mecklenburg, Rowan, and Union.

* Through Tuesday morning

* additional rounds of heavy showers are expected into tonight,
perhaps resulting in a localized additional inch of rainfall. On
top of saturated soils, lingering high water conditions,
elevated stream levels, flooding will be maintained, if not
aggravated.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

southwestern Union County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
east central York County in upstate South Carolina...

* until 700 PM EDT Monday

* at 1230 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain which will cause urban and small stream flooding in the
advisory area. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in
minor flooding in the advisory area. 2-4 inches of rain have
fallen over the past 24 hours. An additional 1-2 inches of rain
is possible over the next 6 hours.

* Media has reported minor flooding along the little Sugar Creek
Greenway at Freedom Park. Similar flooding along greenways and
low-lying Parks is likely.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include:
Uptown Charlotte, Huntersville, central Charlotte, south Charlotte,
southwest Charlotte, East Charlotte, northwest Charlotte, Matthews,
Weddington and Fort Mill.

* Nuisance, action stage flooding of several small and large
streams is possible, including:
Long Creek, McDowell creek, Paw Creek, Irwin creek,
little Sugar Creek, Briar Creek, McAlpine creek, Fourmile creek,
Twelvemile creek, Waxhaw creek, Price Mill creek, and Sugar Creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas, streets
and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying
spots. Rapid rises on small creeks and streams will also occur,
possibly flooding low water crossings and farmland. Do not attempt to
travel across flooded roads. Turn around, dont drown.
