The Flood Warning continues for
the Dan River near Danville.
* From early tomorrow until Thursday evening
* at 03pm Tuesday the stage was 10.6 feet and falling.

* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by early Wednesday and continue
to rise to near 19.7 feet by Wednesday afternoon. The river
will fall below flood stage by Thursday morning.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 18.9
feet on Oct 9 2016.

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
Stokes County in north central North Carolina...
Rockingham County in north central North Carolina...
Caswell County in north central North Carolina...
the city of Danville in south central Virginia...
southern Pittsylvania County in south central Virginia...
southern Halifax County in south central Virginia...

* until 700 PM EDT

* at 325 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated moderate to heavy rain that
will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area.
Up to two inches of rain have already fallen in the past 12 hours
and upwards of 3 inches the past 24 hours. This has left the
ground saturate and additional rainfall will mainly be runoff,
causing creeks and streams to once again reach bankfull or
overflow. Low lying roadways know for ponding will also likely
refill with standing waters. Additional rainfall will range from a
half to three quarters of an inch.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Danville...
Eden...
Reidsville...
South Boston...
and Wentworth.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect until 2 am EDT Wednesday...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of North Carolina and Virginia, including the
following areas, in North Carolina, Caswell, Rockingham,
Stokes, Surry, Wilkes, and Yadkin. In Virginia, Carroll,
Halifax, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania.

* Until 2 am EDT Wednesday

* another period of moderate to heavy rain into tonight may lead
to flooding.

* Additional rainfall around 1 inch with locally higher amounts
could occur through tonight. This could lead to flooding of
creeks and streams today and along larger rivers by tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
