Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 11:08 AM EDT Jul. 28, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from 5 PM EDT this
afternoon through Friday morning...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Maryland and northern Maryland... including
the following areas... in central Maryland... Anne Arundel and
central and southeast Howard. In northern Maryland... northern
Baltimore... northwest Harford... southeast Harford and southern
Baltimore.

* From 5 PM EDT this afternoon through Friday morning

* an area of low pressure is expected to develop tonight over
southern Virginia and track northeast across northeast
Maryland and New Jersey Friday. Showers and thunderstorms are
expected late this afternoon into Friday morning. Given ample
moisture and instability... showers and thunderstorms will be
capable of producing torrential downpours with rainfall rates
of an inch or two per hour and result in flash flooding of
small streams... creeks and urban areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
