...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of southwestern Linn, northeastern Iowa, southeastern Benton and northwestern Johnson Counties through 700 AM CDT... At 612 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Van Horne, or 11 miles north of Marengo, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Robins, Fairfax, Ely, Atkins, Walford, Palo, Shellsburg, Newhall, Blairstown, Van Horne, Shueyville, Norway, Toddville, Hannen Lake Park, Watkins, Cedar Rapids Municipal Airport, and Morgan Creek Park. This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 12 and 30. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Stay away from flooded areas. Report any flooding to local law enforcement. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flash Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Hancock, Henderson, Henry IL, McDonough, Mercer, Rock Island and Warren, Iowa, including the following areas, Benton, Cedar, Clinton, Des Moines, Henry IA, Iowa, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren and Washington, and northeast Missouri, including the following areas, Clark and Scotland. * WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms are expected across the watch area today, and again tonight into Sunday morning. Very high rainfall rates of 2 inches or greater in a short time are possible, which could lead to flash flooding particularly in urban areas. In addition, with the potential for repeated rounds of storms, some locations could receive 2 to 4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts possible. With saturated soils from previous rainfall, these rainfall rates and rainfall amounts will lead to an increased risk for flash flooding. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
