Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 3:12 PM MST Feb. 27, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 6 PM this evening
to 8 PM MST Tuesday...

* snow accumulations... 8 to 14 inches above 7500 feet and 5 to 10
inches below 7500 feet. Locally higher amounts up to near 18
inches possible along the highest west facing mountain slopes
near Chama.

* Timing... intensify tonight and last into Tuesday before
diminishing early Tuesday evening.

* Winds... west to southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to to 40
mph tonight becoming westerly 15 to 25 mph on Tuesday.

* Snow levels... snow levels will quickly lower and allow across
all areas by midnight.

* Local impacts... significant reductions in visibility due to
heavy snowfall and blowing snow will create hazardous
conditions. Travel will be difficult at times due to snowpacked
and icy roads.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow means
severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring.
Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel
dangerous. Strong winds are likely. Only travel in an emergency.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
