Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 9:10 PM EST Feb. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST
Saturday...

Hazardous weather...

* occasional wet snow, sleet and freezing drizzle into the early
morning hours on Saturday will transition to a Stead light to
moderate snow late tonight and Saturday morning. Expect the
snow to transition to lake effect snow showers on Saturday
afternoon before diminishing later in the day.

* There could be a rumble of thunder through midnight, mainly to
the east of a line from Grand Marais to Manistique.

* Expect additional snowfall accumulations tonight to range
between 1 and 2 inches from Manistique to Newberry to as much
as 4 to 5 inches over western Alger County. Any ice accumulation
through tonight will be under a tenth of an inch. Plan on an
additional 2 to 4 inches of snow on Saturday.

* Winds gusting as high as 35 to 40 mph will cause areas of blowing
and drifting snow, especially late tonight and Saturday morning
   near Lake Superior.

Impacts...

* the wet snow along with ice accumulations will continue to
make roads slippery through Saturday. Travel will be
   difficult on untreated roads.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

* a Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet,
or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared
for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution
   while driving.

* Prepare, plan, and stay informed. Visit www.Weather.Gov/MQT
