Special Weather Statement
Issued: Environment Canada
Special Weather Statement issued by Environment. 03:59 PM EST Saturday 23 December 2017.
Widespread snowfall of 5 to 10 cm Christmas Eve, with higher amounts possible near the Lake Ontario shore.

A developing low pressure system will track south of the Great Lakes Sunday night, bringing another round of snow for much of Southern Ontario. Snow will begin late Sunday afternoon, with the bulk of the snow falling Sunday night. General snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected by the time the snow ends early Monday morning. Higher amounts up to 15 cm are becoming more likely with lake enhancement due to easterly winds off Lake Ontario. The most likely timing for this enhancement of heavier snow is from early evening to near midnight within the Toronto to Oakville corridor. The heavier snow should tend to shift into the Hamilton area briefly after midnight. Some heavier snow may also affect Prince Edward County overnight.

While the winter wonderland will be lovely to see come Christmas Day, it may contribute to challenging travelling conditions for those visiting family and friends over the holidays.
