Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 4:10 AM EST Dec. 6, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to
6 am EST Wednesday...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for snow and freezing rain... which is in effect
from 4 PM this afternoon to 6 am EST Wednesday.

* Locations... southern Poconos and far northwestern New Jersey.

* Snow accumulations... 2 to 4 inches with the highest amounts at
elevations above 1000 ft.

* Ice accumulations... up to a few hundredths of an inch.

* Timing... a wintry mix of rain, wet snow and sleet is expected to
overspread the area between 4 and 6 PM in the Poconos and
between 6 and 8 PM in northwestern New Jersey. Precipitation
then changes over to snow and could become moderate to locally
heavy this evening. Snow will then change over to rain during
the overnight in the warmer valleys. However, pockets of
freezing rain or drizzle may develop along the high-elevation
ridges.

* Impacts... untreated roads, bridges and overpasses will become
snow covered and slippery this evening. The evening rush could
be impacted if the heavier snow arrives in time. Hazardous
travel may continue through late tonight, especially where a
light glaze of icing forms.

* Temperatures... in the lower to mid 30s.

* Visibilities... one-half mile at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

Report snow and ice accumulation to the National Weather Service
by calling our trained spotter line... posting to the NWS Mount
Holly facebook Page... or using twitter @nwsmountholly.

Snowfall and ice accumulation forecast maps in addition to
experimental probabilistic snowfall information for the latest
event are available online at www.Weather.Gov/phi/winter
