Watches & Warnings

Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 2:25 PM PDT Jul. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this
evening for abundant lightning and gusty outflow winds for fire
weather zones 611, 640, and 642...

* affected area... in Oregon... fire weather zones 611, the
southern portion of zone 640, and all but the extreme northern
portion of zone 642.

* Timing... this afternoon and evening.

* Lightning activity... lal 3 meaning thunderstorms are few and
light rain will reach the ground.

* Precipitation... generally less than one tenth of an inch.

* Impacts... lightning may cause new fire starts in the warning
area. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly due
to gusty outflow winds. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... .or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
