... Isolated thunderstorms developing east of the Sierra
this afternoon...

Moderate to locally strong thunderstorms will continue developing
along and east of the Sierra late this afternoon into the early
evening hours. Most of the storms will be confined to area between
Mono Lake and Woodfords, but a few may develop east into parts of
western Mineral County, southern Lyon County, and southern Douglas
County.

The strongest storms may produce small hail and gusty winds to near
45 mph. The slow movement of the storms will result in brief
moderate to heavy downpours as well. In steeper terrain, the
moderate to heavy rain could cause minor rock slides.

These storms will have small rain cores, so any areas outside of the
cores are susceptible to dry lightning strikes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

During a thunderstorm, seek shelter inside a sturdy structure and
stay away from windows. Hikers and campers should seek shelter in a
vehicle if possible.
