Watches & Warnings

High Surf Advisory
Issued: 2:55 AM PST Feb. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory remains in effect until 10 PM PST this
evening...

* surf... breaking waves of 15 to 18 feet will subside to 10 to 15
feet by this evening.

* Impacts... large waves and strong rip currents will increase the
risk of ocean drowning for swimmers and surfers. Large breaking
waves can cause injury... wash people off beaches and rocks...
and capsize small boats nearshore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.

Small Craft for Hazardous Seas Advisory
Issued: 3:51 AM PST Feb. 19, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Small Craft Advisory for hazardous seas in effect until 3 PM
PST this afternoon...

See the coastal waters forecast (cwflox) for more details.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory for hazardous seas means that waves are
expected to be hazardous to small craft. Mariners should avoid
shoaling areas. Long period swell can sharpen into large breaking
waves in shoaling areas. It is not unusual for waves to break much
farther from shoaling areas than is normally experienced.
Remember... breaking waves can easily capsize even larger vessels.
