Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 2:38 PM MDT Mar. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning now in effect from 9 PM this evening to
9 am MDT Saturday above 8500 feet...

* locations include... Telluride, Ouray, Lake city, Silverton,
and Rico.

* Timing... scattered rain and snow showers develop this evening
and change over to all snow after midnight. The snow may be
heavy at times through Friday before ending Saturday morning.

* Snow accumulation... 8 to 18 inches with locally higher amounts
along southeast and east facing slopes.

* Snow level... 7,000 to 8,000 feet with the greatest snow amounts
above 8,500 feet.

* Winds... southeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Impacts... higher elevation roads, including highways 550, 145
and 149 will be icy and snow packed with areas of slushy
conditions also expected, especially during the overnight hours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. Strong winds and blowing snow are also
possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
