* what... heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 9
inches expected. Winds gusting 30 to 35 mph.

* Where... lake IL, dupage and Cook counties.

* When... beginning late afternoon and increasing in intensity
this evening and persisting through noon CST Saturday.

* Additional details... travel could be very difficult. Strong
winds will result in blowing and drifting snow and could
significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions
could impact the evening commute.

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather

... Lakeshore flood advisory in effect from 6 am Saturday to 9 am
CST Sunday...

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Lakeshore
flood advisory... which is in effect from 6 am Saturday to 9 am
CST Sunday.

* Lake Shore flooding... onshore winds of 30 to 35 mph will
produce waves of 7 to 10 ft. The large waves and strong winds
will drive up lake levels, which are already above average.

* Timing... early Saturday through mid Sunday morning

* impacts... minor flooding is likely along the Illinois and Lake
County Indiana shoreline, including along the Chicago Lakefront
bike path in the typical flood prone areas.

* Safety... avoid flood prone areas along the Lakeshore and stay
off of structures such as piers, jetties and breakwalls.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Lakeshore flood advisory indicates that onshore winds will
generate flooding of low areas along the Lakeshore.
