Watches & Warnings

Lakeshore Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:34 PM CDT Apr. 18, 2019 – National Weather Service

... Lakeshore flood advisory remains in effect from 4 am Friday to
1 am CDT Saturday...

* Lake Shore flooding... strong northerly winds with gusts of 45
mph are expected to develop late tonight and into Friday. These
strong winds will produce waves building to 8 to 12 feet. The
large waves and strong winds will drive up lake levels, which
are already well above average.

* Timing... late tonight through Friday evening.

* Impacts... minor flooding is likely in flood prone areas along
the Lakeshore, including along the Chicago Lakefront bike path
in the typical flood prone areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Lakeshore flood advisory indicates that onshore winds will
generate flooding of low areas along the Lakeshore. Avoid flood
prone areas along the Lakeshore and stay off of structures such as
piers, jetties and breakwalls.
