Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 9:40 PM EDT May. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday
afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of north and central Georgia.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* abundant moisture combined with an upper level storm system will
lead to widespread showers and thunderstorms overnight tonight through
Tuesday morning and again late Tuesday into Wednesday. Heavy
rain will be possible at times over the watch area including
higher rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Portions of the
watch area received 1 to 3 inches of rainfall on Saturday into
early Sunday making soils less permeable to additional rainfall.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in
the watch area through Wednesday afternoon.

* Flooding in low lying and flood prone areas will be likely,
especially in urban areas. In addition, creeks, streams and
rivers may overflow their banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
