* until 700 PM EDT

* at 522 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
Up to two inches of rain have already fallen and another inch is
expected in spots.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Washington, River Road, Belhaven, Pinetown, Ponzer, Vanceboro,
Goose Creek State Park and Pantego.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

... A strong thunderstorm will affect northeastern Lenoir...
northwestern Craven... southeastern Pitt and western Beaufort
counties...

At 438 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located 7 miles southeast of
Grifton, or 12 miles south of Ayden, moving northeast at 30 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Washington, River Road, Grifton, Pinetown, Vanceboro, Goose Creek
State Park, Chocowinity, Washington Park and Cove City.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
