Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 1:22 AM EDT May. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* urban and small stream flood advisory for...
Forsyth County in central North Carolina...
Guilford County in central North Carolina...

* until 415 am EDT

* at 120 am EDT, Doppler radar indicated slow-moving showers and
thunderstorms drifting north across The Triad. Urban and small
stream flooding may result in the advisory area. One and a quarter
to one and a half inches of rain has already fallen in a swath
from Lewisville and Clemmons, eastward to near High Point and
Jamestown. As this heavy rain continues northward and across
Greensboro and particularly Winston Salem, urban flooding will
become more likely during the next one to two hours.

It appears the heaviest rain will occur over western Forsyth
County, where amounts may reach two to as much as three inches
before the rain tapers off by 3 am. If it appears these amounts will
occur over the city of Winston Salem, a warning may be issued.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Kernersville, Clemmons,
Bermuda Run, Huntsville, McLeansville, Lewisville and Summerfield.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
