Special Statement
Issued: 3:15 AM EDT May. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

... A slow moving line of strong... heavy thunderstorms will affect
northwestern Randolph... Doddridge... northern
Lewis... Upshur... Barbour and Harrison counties...

At 313 am EDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located
along a line extending from near West Union to 8 miles northwest of
Mill Creek. Movement was northeast at 15 mph.

Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail are possible with these
storms.

Locations impacted include...
Clarksburg, Elkins, Buckhannon, Weston, Philippi, Audra State Park,
Bridgeport, Belington, Stonewood, Nutter Fort, Salem, West Union,
Anmoore, Jackson Mill, Stonewall Jackson, West Milford, Junior, Lost
Creek, Jane Lew and Womelsdorf (coalton).

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 79 between mile markers 94 and 121.
Route 50 in West Virginia between mile markers 52 and 82.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may
cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
