Issued: 1:20 AM EDT May. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* flood advisory for...
southwestern Halifax County in south central Virginia...

* until 415 am EDT

* at 116 am EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to slow moving showers and thunderstorms. The
activity was located from the near the Caswell/Halifax County line
to near Cluster Springs. Very slow northeastward movement was
indicated. Radar indicates that 1 to 1.5 inches has already fallen
during the past hour in the far southwest part of the County and
an additional one inch or more of rain is possible in the next few
hours. Minor flooding of low-lying and flood prone areas can be
expected. Minor to moderate rises on area creeks and streams can
be expected.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
South Boston...
Turbeville...
Ingram...
Milton...
and Cluster Springs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
